Special Education

Special Education Services

Some students have needs which need extra support outside the classroom. Most often we identify these needs through our Student Study Team process. As a team—parent, teacher and principal  make a recommendation for assessment.

At Marina Vista we have a  Resource Teacher and a School Psychologist. After an Assessment Plan has been determined, and testing completed, we meet together to determine eligibility for Special Education services. If your child qualifies for services he or she will have an Individual Education Plan (IEP )written documenting all services to be received. These services may include Speech, Occupational Therapy, or Adapted PE. We have specialists at the school site who work with children in these areas. The IEP is reviewed yearly, although a parent may request an IEP meeting at any time.

If you have any questions about Special Education services at Marina Vista Elementary please contact the main office at 831-392-3580.
